Our club
Lions Club of Eildon
We are a small club of 12 members at the moment, but like all clubs we expand and contract.
Our club is based on the “Pondage” which is a large body of water that holds water released from Lake Eildon and it in turn releases into the Goulburn river.
We have our clubrooms and storage rooms close to the”Pondage, across the road there is our Eildon Lions Park where we built the Lions Rotunda which has lighting, power and a kitchen, two BBQ’s and seating for 50 people, this is for the visitors and local community to use anytime. A stones throw away we have the our Lions built wheel chair friendly fishing pier and toilet block. We constructed an Island in the Pondage for wildlife refuge.
We now are nearly ready to start to build a stage with roof over next to the Rotunda, this will complement the Twilight Markets and one of stage shows.
- Part of our disbursements come from our Eildon Lions Big River Youth Bush Camp on the road halfway between Jamieson and Eildon. It has all the amenities that any group could need, showers, toilets fully appointed kitchen undercover BBQ area with open fire and can sleep 47 people.
- We support the Goulburn Fishing Festival with Fisheries Victoria every September for the trout season opening.
- We support Fisheries Victoria with the open days at “Snob’s Creek Fish Hatchery”.
- The Eildon Twilight Market in our Lions park starts in spring through to Autumn, music, food and drinks.
- Wwe have our four wood raffles during the winter.
- In partnership with Eildon Action Inc. we moved a 100 year old plus church and placed it behind the Eildon Information Centre and added to the church to create the “Dams Museum” a story of the two Eildon Weirs. This is open on demand.
- To add to the Museum we restored the first housboat that is considered the first on Eildon Weir.
- We are fortunate to still have one of our charter members who started the club back in 1975.
- We are involved with the Eildon Primary School which is directly behind our club house and we all sit on around 50 acres of bush and playing fields.
- We have the Community Centre building built by the community next door where we can hold events, it has toilets, kitchen and can seat 200 people, it has a basketball court and upstair rooms for meetings. Our club is fortunate to be in a small town (we call it the “Village”) with the larger events that we have we can call on the “friends of lions” to give us a hand.

Lions District 201V5
Making a difference
Each of the service clubs within Australia is grouped by state and then into districts. There are five districts within Victoria, and we do great work in District 201V5, located within Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs, along with Healesville, Marysville, Eildon, Yea, Seymour, Nagambie, Euroa, Shepparton and Dookie.
