This service club operates in the Whitehorse City Council, Victoria Australia. We are caring people doing extraordinary things such as supporting people with a disability, caring for the environment, funding medical services and medical research. The Lions Club of Blackburn raises funds for worthwhile causes in our local area and around the world

Twinning

We are partners with the Lions Club of Pandino Italy and we work together on joint projects, such as providing breakfast for disadvantaged school students. One of our combined projects involves the collection of eye glasses which are then processed and graded before being sent to needy people overseas.

Donations

Some of our more public contributions include:

Funding of medical equipment for Eastern Health in partnership with the Australian Lions Foundation and Blackburn South Community Bendigo Bank.

Funding of a new vehicle for Eastern Emergency Relief Network.

Youth

We involve the youth of our area through the operation of the Whitehorse LEO club. This enables them to operate their own programs and decide for themselves how they want to serve our community. We also promote the Lions Peace Poster program into our local schools and raise awareness of the need for peace in the world.

The club is also involved in the Annual Community Fair in which we give opportunities to families doing it tough, to come and enjoy a day of activities at our expense. We also fund a week away for disadvantaged children at Licola Village in East Gippsland.
